Work of Belgrade open school in the field of Energy, climate and environment

The Belgrade Open School brings together and supports activists, local civil society organizations, media, energy cooperatives, trade unions, and other stakeholders, advocating for improved public policies in environmental protection and climate change.

Our objectives are good governance in environmental protection and achieving climate neutrality by 2050 through the successful implementation of European legal norms and standards.

We support the democratization and decarbonization of the energy sector, emphasizing a just energy transition and increased share of renewable energy sources into the energy mix.

We advocate to improve national policies and regulations in air quality, climate change, and nature protection. Collaborating with citizens, we strive to enhance air quality monitoring through application of citizen science principles and promote the adoption of nature-based solutions in adaptation to climate change.

We promote good governance in environmental protection, through public access to environmental information and full citizen participation in decision-making in line with the principles of the Aarhus Convention. We campaign for increased and adequate funding for environmental protection.

Our work is aligned with the principles of the UN Agenda 2030, the Paris Agreement on Climate Change, the Convention on Biological Diversity, and the Green Agenda for the Western Balkans.
