The Belgrade Open School is implementing the project “Local Actors for Clean Energy and Air 2026”, supported by the European Climate Foundation. The project is a continuation of activities carried out in previous years, aiming to improve air quality, energy efficiency, and cooperation between local communities, institutions, and the private sector.
During the project implementation period, BOS will carry out the following activities:
Work with local self-government representatives and initiating cooperation with the private sector
Activities will focus on cooperation with local self-government units to identify measures and policies in the areas of air quality, energy efficiency, and energy transition. A particular focus will be placed on developing concrete project proposals aimed at supporting energy-vulnerable households, in cooperation with local stakeholders and institutions.
Engaging with the private sector and establishing a cooperation platform
The project will include mapping companies and establishing cooperation between the private sector and local self-governments through the development of joint ESG initiatives and pilot projects in the fields of air quality, energy efficiency, and energy transition.
Engaging citizens and local initiatives in the citizen air quality monitoring network
Activities will include expanding the citizen air quality monitoring network through the installation of new sensors, support for local communities, and education of citizens on pollution sources and possible solutions for improving air quality and adopting cleaner and more sustainable practices.
Communication and outreach
Through a communication campaign, the project will use data from the citizen air quality monitoring network to inform the public about key findings and results.
Project activities will be implemented from February 2026 to January 2027.
