BOS on challenges of traineeships in the region

The National Association of Practitioners of Youth Work (NAPOR) organized "Traineeships - challenges and examples from the region" meeting on May 12th, 2018, at StartIT Center Belgrade. Stakeholders from the public and civil sector participated in the event and shared their perspectives and experiences in the field. 

Jelena Stojanovic, executive director of NAPOR, started the meeting by shortly going through the activities of a 4-year IPA project that NAPOR is implementing, along with partners from 6 civil society organizations from Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, FYR of Macedonia, Kosovo*, Albania and Turkey. A regional insight into the current the situation was provided by Igor Milosevic from the Association for Democratic prosperity Zid. He presented the draft Law on Traineeships, which was developed within this project and whose application will be advocated for throughout Montenegro.

Jelena Manic Radoicic, the program manager of the Improvement of Employability Programme of Belgrade Open School, presented the challenges in implementing traineeships in Serbia, and the active advocacy of BOS in the realization of such programmes. In addition, Jelena Manic Radoicic presented BOS' current project on the topic: "Quality services for better youth employment - KviS on BIS". BOS is implementing this project with the support of Solidar Suisse/Swiss Labour Assistance (SLA) – Serbian office. In the second part of the meeting, the attendees discussed the applicability of the previously presented draft Law, they exchanged their experiences and challenges when it comes to Internships in Serbia. 

Present at the meeting were representatives of Belgrade Open School, Office for cooperation with the civil society, Tempus Foundation, Province secretariat for commerce and tourism, Ministry of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Policy, PROTECTA organization, Center for the Advancement of Social Consciousness - Super Citizen Niš, Union of Employers of Serbia, German organization for international cooperation GIZ, Ministry of Youth and Sports of Serbia, Chamber of Commerce Serbia, University Center for Career Development and counseling in Belgrade, Student association AIESEC, National Employment Service, Swiss organization Helvetas - project PERFORM, Standing Conference of Cities and Municipalities, LENS organization,Association for democratic prosperity Zid.

This activity was realized with the financial support of the EU Delegation, within the project "Platform for social innovation in youth unemployment - YOUSEE".
