The Seventh Issue of the "Energy, Climate and Environment" Newsletter

04. May 2018.

In light of the dynamic development of public policies in the field of environment, climate change and energy - both at national and global level - we think it is important to keep up with trends for all of us interested in these issues. There are many sources of information, as well as events, and it is not always easy to keep track of all of them. We prepared for you the overview of the most important news and events in March, at the level of Serbia, the region, the European Union and at the global level.

The topic of the March edition of the Bulletin "Let’s Talk about Negotiations" is the Law on Climate Change. Read about waste management in the column Waste as an Energy Source – Second Life of Products. In the focus of the new issue is the Law on Environmental Impact Assessment and the Law on Planning and Construction, and you can also find a review of the fourth phase of the Carbon Dioxide Trade System.

On a global scale, climate change is embedded in judicial practice, an increasing number of cities, organizations and individuals are launching court proceedings against the fossil fuel industry. In the Netherlands, construction of the first wind farm will soon begin, which will be built and operated without state subsidies. In the region, the fight against mini hydro power plants financed by commercial banks continues, which are more cost-effective due to high feed-in tariffs and with devastating effects on the environment. Serbia is facing problems of water pollution and poor waste management, which lead to environmental, health and economic costs.

You can read about these and other interesting topics in the seventh issue of the "Energy, Climate and Environment" Newsletter, which can be downloaded here. The archive of the Newsletter "Energy, Climate and Environment" is located on this link.

If there are special topics that you would like to see in our monthly review or if you have a comment or a suggestion, you can contact us at mirjana.jovanovic@bos.rs.

Best regards until the next reading!
