The prestigious Diplomacy & Commerce Award 2018 for the long-term contribution to the development of civil society in Serbia was awarded to the Belgrade Open School on March 22nd. The award ceremony, held in the pleasant atmosphere of Bitef Art Cafe and organized by Diplomacy & Commerce magazine, was attended by representatives of some of the largest companies and media organizations in the country.
Founded in 1993, the Belgrade Open School is one of the pioneers of the civil society in Serbia. Through its 25-years experience and commitment, BOS has positioned itself among the key actors in the dialogue of civil society organizations, building their capacities, their mutual networking, and networking with relevant institutions and organizations in the public and business sector. Diplomacy & Commerce Magazine has recognized this contribution by awarding a Civil Society Development Award at the second Diplomacy & Commerce Awards event.
The prize was accepted by Vesna Djukic, Director General of BOS, who has, along with the welcoming words and expressions of gratitude for this recognition, invited all the participants to cooperation and support to civil society organizations in order to develop the society as a whole.
"During all these years, we have worked hard to ensure that, through educational, research and advocacy activities, we are active contributors to the constructive dialogue between civil society, the state, and the business sector, believing that joint cooperation is a prerequisite for building a society based on freedom, knowledge, and innovation."
Through its activities, BOS continues to actively support the development of this sector in Serbia and the region and to provide direct mentoring and expert support, training and financial grants to selected individuals and organizations in their fields of work. through the two ongoing projects, the Civil Society for the Advancement of Serbia's Accession to the European Union and the P4OCD - Capacity Building of Civil Society Organizations for Public Advocacy of Practical Policies in Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
