One of the greatest challenges facing young people in Serbia is unemployment and limited opportunities for a quality transition from education to the labour market. Aiming to enhance employability and labour market mobility, Belgrade Open School focuses on ensuring equal access to career guidance and counselling (CGC) services for all young people – regardless of their status, gender, or socio-economic background. Research shows that young people who have used CGC services are more likely to find employment, with positive effects remaining even a year later.
To provide comprehensive support to youth, Belgrade Open School will implement the project “CGC Ambassadors: From Education to the Labour Market.”
The project includes research involving at least 200 young people to assess their needs when entering the labour market, as well as the organisation of training in the field of career guidance for at least 20 young participants. These young people will develop their career management skills and be empowered to become CGC ambassadors. Afterwards, they will implement peer-to-peer activities in at least 8 local municipalities, providing direct career development support to at least 200 young people. In addition, a minimum of 145 young people will receive individual support through online or in-person counselling services, significantly improving their career management skills.
In addition to direct work with youth, the project will, through promotional activities and the enhancement of the BOŠ Karijera portal, inform and motivate at least 200,000 young people across Serbia. The portal will serve as a functional, professional, and easily accessible resource for all young people seeking guidance regarding educational and professional choices. The project will contribute to building a broader support network for career decision-making, with a strong focus on the development of young people who, through this process, become agents of change in their communities.
The project is supported by the Ministry of Tourism and Youth of the Republic of Serbia, and the activities will be implemented from June to November 2025.
