Why do we collaborate? For many years, the Belgrade Open School team has been continuously working on strengthening the capacities of the civil sector, and its professionalization, and establishing it as an equal actor standing shoulder-to-shoulder with the public and private sectors.

The interests of young people change from generation to generation. Compared to other age groups, young people consume different content and prefer modern forms of communication. In order to reach them, convey a message to them and try to exert a certain influence, we need to speak the same language, communicate through the same channels and offer them content tailored to them.

In the new issue of the newsletter, we wrote about the European Parliament's Resolution on Serbia and its importance for the future course of Serbia's European integration.

During the final meeting of the programme partners within the program „Media and Youth for Democratic Development“ it was discussed about current state of media, the impact of media and CSOs in citizen's lives, as well as how to support proactive individuals striving for social change. Moreover, programme partners presented the results of their projects within this programme.

The fourth year of the Civil Society Support Program for Public Advocacy has begun. The program is being implemented within the project „Active Citizens - Better Society: Advocating for Cooperation and Democratic Development" in which 20 civil society organizations will be supported. Communication of civil society organizations and the media with the public is important for greater visibility, promotion and recognition of their work. To successfully convey the message, it is necessary to use channels and communication tools that are adapted to the public we are addressing.

Belgrade Open School has launched a series of podcasts „Dialogue of Change“, which will start a new discussion on the (non) existence of dialogue between civil society organizations and public authorities in Serbia. The environment is currently at the very top of the interest of a significant part of the citizens of Serbia. How did this topic manage to involve so many people in the dialogue of change?

Civil society has a key role in enabling social change in a society, whereas the media outlets have to professionally report on different subjects. But how – with which tools, instruments and knowledge, youth CSOs and media outlets can adequately achieve that in the current context of Serbia?

One of the key roles of both civil society organizations for youth and their media counterparts nowadays is to inform young generations of the importance of democratic principles. What we recognized is that it is important for that to be done in the ways susceptible to them, given the fact that young people do not utilize mainstream information channels. Without a positive attitude of the media towards youth, as well as youth towards democracy, there is no starting point of democratic progress n
