Business Diplomacy

Description
In the world of international business, knowledge of the culture of communication and the way of conducting business of associates from different countries is becoming a necessary characteristic of leading people in companies. Protocols applied at the political level, diplomacy skills and communication principles at the highest levels in general, are important things to know in the work environment as well. Miscommunications, which arise from not knowing the basic principles, or a lack of knowledge regarding the specifics of certain cultures, can negatively affect negotiations and business with potential partners. On the other hand, a good situation management is not only the result of a set of skills and knowledge generally in the possession of top managers, but also in the knowledge and application of principles adapted to the interlocutor. A conscious appreciation of business partners further improves standard communication and business, because what is left in the end, is what others heard and accepted from us, and not what we said that did not produce the desired result. Consultations offer users all of these skills and knowledge, which are, taking into account their positions and competence, expected of them, and which on the other hand, are not always available, but can be mastered and learned from the experience of those who have successfully applied them in practice.

The goal of this programme, or consultations, is to point out what communication principles, forms and specifics should the leading people of companies pay attention to when talking and negotiating with partners, especially those from different cultures. What are culture-specifics, or the communication similarities and differences in the region and farther, and how can knowledge of them be used as a good business start? Misunderstandings in communication and ‘’diplomacy gaffs'' occur in the business world as well, and the skill of mastering specific rules is acquired through good awareness.

Outcomes

Leaders know:
• How to use diplomacy in a broader sense, i.e. to find ways to avoid business conflicts while at the same time preserving their own interests
• How diplomatic communication affects the power play in communication, and how to practice it
• How to use the diplomatic communication skill as a method for avoiding affectivity, especially in negotiations where the communication style should be assertive and argumentative
• How to use the diplomacy skill and knowledge of the co-worker’s way of communication and culture to solve crisis situations and avoid failure in negotiations and business
• Why a solid knowledge of the cultural specifics and way of communication of the interlocutor affects business results
• What segments in different cultural patterns they should pay attention to, and how to use them in communication
